Hiring Event Thurs May 21: Child Care Specialist / Emergency Shelter JAFCO, a non-profit children's organization, is hosting a Hiring Event on Thursday, May 21st. We immediately need compassionate, patient, and dedicated Child Care Specialists to join our Emergency Shelter team in Sunrise, FL. Our Child Care Providers earn $15•$18 an hour, depending on experience, and enjoy: The opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of children who need it most. 2pm•10pm As a member of our Child Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing environment for children with special needs who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. You'll also: Provide hands-on care, supervision, and emotional support to children diagnosed with a developmental disability. Support children through daily routines including meals, hygiene, play, schoolwork, and bedtime. Use trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate approaches to build trust and connection. Work collaboratively with clinical and program staff to meet each child's unique needs. Maintain a safe, clean, and structured environment that promotes stability and growth. We are looking for warm, caring individuals to join our team and provide the consistent, supportive care these children need to feel safe, valued, and understood. To qualify for our Child Care Specialist opportunities, you must be at least 18 years of age and have: A high school diploma or equivalent. At least 1 year of experience working in special needs, childcare, or a similar setting. Valid CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety certifications. A valid driver's license and clean driving record. A passion for working with children with developmental disabilities and/or emotional trauma. PCM Certification (Will train/certify after hire) If you have a passion for working with children and bring patience, empathy, and a calm, steady presence to challenging moments, we'd love to meet with you!
