Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact as a specialist supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across several schools in a dynamic district along the beautiful southeast Florida coast. This full-time, school-based contract runs from early August through early June and provides the opportunity to enrich the K-12 educational experience for a diverse student population. As the itinerant DHH educator, you'll work on-site, collaborating with school staff and families to ensure accessible learning environments and individualized support for each student. Your role involves traveling between campuses while providing specialized instruction, consultation, and advocacy.
What We're Looking For:
Expertise teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Valid and active Florida Department of Education certification Background working with K-12 age groups, preferably within school settings Flexibility to serve multiple schools across the district Ability to assist with Functional Listening Evaluations (FLEs) Familiarity with audiological evaluations and proficiency uploading results to PEER systems Willingness to support Usher screenings districtwide Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to inclusive education Must meet fingerprinting credentialing requirements (potential use of previous prints from DOH)
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver itinerant DHH services to students from kindergarten through high school Participate in and facilitate audiological and functional listening assessments Track, collect, and organize student audiological data, reporting to required platforms Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs Serve as a resource for classroom teachers and families to foster student success This position offers rewarding daily variety, the chance to build professional relationships throughout a supportive district, and the satisfaction of making a daily difference.
