Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful role where you can make a real impact in the lives of elementary-aged students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and significant cognitive challenges. In this full-time, contract-based assignment, you will take the lead in a self-contained adapted curriculum classroom, providing hands-on, individualized instruction to help each student reach their fullest potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction utilizing adapted curriculum standards tailored to individual learning needs Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Manage classroom routines, behavioral support strategies, and instructional interventions Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to maximize student progress Collect and analyze data to guide instructional decisions and support measurable growth Differentiate teaching approaches based on student learning profiles Foster development of functional communication, social, behavioral, and adaptive skills in a supportive setting
Essential Qualifications:
Current Georgia certification in Special Education Demonstrated experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder Proven skill in developing and implementing IEPs Effective classroom management and behavior intervention strategies
Preferred Experience:
Adapted Curriculum certification or equivalent experience Background with significant cognitive disabilities and intensive needs Familiarity with ABA methodologies, visual supports, structured teaching, and communication systems Supervisory experience in self-contained classrooms with paraprofessionals This opportunity offers a chance to empower a unique student population, working within a supportive and collaborative school environment.
