Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Support the success of middle school learners with intensive academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs as a GNETS Special Education Teacher in a contract role located near Athens, GA. In this position, you'll provide specialized instruction to students within the GNETS (Georgia Network for Educational and Therapeutic Supports) program, ensuring a positive, structured educational experience that helps each student thrive. What you'll do: Deliver adapted instruction targeted to individualized education program (IEP) goals within the GNETS setting Design and implement behavior interventions and positive supports tailored for students with significant needs Develop and maintain IEPs, progress monitoring, and required compliance documentation Collaborate closely with administrators, support staff, families, and related service providers Differentiate instruction and interventions across content areas for diverse learning levels Promote a supportive, safe, and organized learning environment for all students
Qualifications:
Valid Georgia Special Education General Curriculum Certification Certified to teach in all academic content areas (please provide documentation) Solid understanding of classroom management and behavior intervention strategies Experience writing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs Completion of 3 professional reference checks, including one recent supervisor
Preferred Experience:
Prior work in GNETS or similar alternative education settings Background supporting students with emotional and behavioral challenges Training in CPI, de-escalation, or behavior management techniques You'll work with a dedicated team focused on making an impact for students needing intensive interventions during the 2026-2027 school year.
