200-Day Contract, Full-Time Job Summary:
The Pre-K Special Needs Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to preschool-aged students with identified disabilities at Brookview Elementary School. The teacher will design and implement individualized learning experiences aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), focusing on developmental, social-emotional, communication, cognitive, and motor skill growth. The position requires collaboration with families, related service providers, and school staff to support the whole child in a structured, nurturing, and inclusive early learning environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for preschool students with special needs Provide developmentally appropriate instruction in early literacy, math readiness, communication, motor skills, and social-emotional development Create a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment tailored to the needs of young learners with disabilities Use evidence-based instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction and early intervention techniques Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain accurate documentation of student progress and services Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other related service providers Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs Support behavior development through positive behavior intervention strategies (PBIS/behavior plans as applicable) Supervise and support paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom Adapt materials and instructional methods to meet individual student needs Participate in eligibility meetings, IEP meetings, and other special education compliance activities Ensure compliance with all state and federal special education regulations (IDEA) Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-wide activities Perform other duties as assigned by administrationQualifications:
Valid WV Professional Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement Knowledge of early childhood development and special education instructional strategies Experience working with preschool-aged children with disabilities preferred Strong understanding of IEP development and special education compliance requirements Ability to work collaboratively with families, staff, and related service providers Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills Patience, flexibility, and commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learnersPhysical Demands:
Ability to lift, assist, and support young children as needed Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the classroom for extended periods Ability to supervise students in various learning and play environments Ability to manage materials and equipment used in early childhood instructionSalary:
