Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Take your expertise in supporting visually impaired students to multiple educational sites in the Buford, GA area as a dedicated educator. This contract position begins July 27th, 2026, and continues through May 25th, 2027, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of children and their families across several schools. With a flexible, part-time schedule of approximately 20 hours weekly, you'll have the space to focus on individual student success while collaborating with faculty and families.
Qualifications:
Valid Georgia teaching certificate in Special Education - Visual Impairment (P-12), OR Special Education teaching certificate with a Visual Impairment endorsement Experience designing and implementing educational plans for visually impaired students preferred Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and families Capability to adapt curriculum, materials, and learning environments to meet students' needs
Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to visually impaired students across multiple school locations Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths and needs, guiding the creation and implementation of individualized educational plans (IEPs) Consult with classroom teachers to adapt materials and methods for inclusion, access, and engagement Offer guidance on assistive technologies and orientation/mobility strategies Track progress, prepare required documentation, and contribute to team meetings This role is ideal for a professional passionate about accessible education who thrives on building relationships and witnessing student growth.
