Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into a meaningful opportunity to support students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a dynamic educational environment. This part-time contract role begins July 27th, 2026, and concludes on May 25th, 2027, working approximately 20 hours each week across multiple school sites. You'll be a resource and advocate for students with hearing differences, ensuring they have the tools and support to thrive academically and socially. Your experience will make a direct impact through personalized instruction, collaboration with staff and families, and development of strategies tailored to each student's unique needs. You'll work closely with educational teams to create inclusive, accessible classrooms and empower students in their learning and self-advocacy skills.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Georgia Teaching Certificate in Special Education - Deaf Education (P-12), or Georgia Special Education General Curriculum Certificate (P-12) with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Strong collaborative abilities to work with multidisciplinary teams, families, and service providers Effective communication skills, including the ability to modify language and content for students' comprehension Previous school or educational setting experience supporting students with hearing loss is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement engaging lessons to meet individualized education program (IEP) goals Provide direct instruction and support in academic and life skills Consult with teachers and staff to facilitate student inclusion in general classrooms Advocate for student accommodations and technological supports as needed Maintain clear documentation and participate in IEP meetings This rewarding position offers the chance to work closely with students, families, and peers, making a daily difference in the school community.
