Job Description
Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract position making a direct impact in the lives of students as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Collaborate with a dynamic school community near Dallas, GA, supporting students through personalized instruction and advocacy while fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment. Ideal candidates should demonstrate expertise working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, utilizing strategies that support language development, auditory skills, and access to the general education curriculum. Strong communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, are essential to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and families.
Qualifications & Experience:
State certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Experience creating individualized education programs (IEPs) and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Knowledge of assistive technologies, FM systems, and American Sign Language (ASL) preferred. Ability to adapt instructional methods based on student needs and levels of hearing loss. Compassionate, patient, and committed to student-centered learning.Key Responsibilities:
Design and deliver engaging lessons tailored for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in resource or inclusion settings. Assess students' academic and communication needs and track progress using data-driven methods. Work closely with classroom teachers to modify curriculum and provide accommodations. Serve as a resource to family members and faculty, delivering guidance on student support and accessibility. Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and professional development opportunities.
