Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in the life of a 5th-grade student by providing focused academic and behavioral support in a one-on-one setting. This contract special education teaching opportunity is onsite and full-time, running from now through May 2026, with a strong possibility of extension through the following school year.
Key Qualifications:
Current Georgia Teaching Certification (GaPSC) and Elementary Special Education Certification are required—please be prepared to provide proof. Demonstrated success working with students exhibiting physically aggressive behaviors, ideally in a school setting. Prior experience supporting elementary grade students, specifically those with behavioral and reading support needs. Skilled in de-escalation and implementing individualized behavior plans. Reliable transportation for daily onsite work. Professional, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting high-needs students.
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized academic instruction, primarily in reading, to a high-functioning, verbal 5th-grade female student. Utilize positive behavioral interventions and manage physically aggressive behaviors, with provided restraint training if required. Collaborate closely with a dedicated paraprofessional and another teacher to ensure student success. Track and document student progress in both academic and behavioral domains. Maintain clear communication with administrative staff and the student's support team. This position offers the chance to build strong one-on-one relationships, deepen your expertise with behavioral strategies, and see daily impacts on student growth.
