Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, provides instruction to students in the classroom and lab settings, prepares syllabi and lesson plans. Develops program goals and objectives. The instructor must possess the ability to teach all phases of the curriculum. Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques; use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other record-keeping required; effective use of oral and written communication skills; and knowledge of current in-field procedures. Follows approved course syllabus. Maintains program requirements, attends/completes all professional development training; meet with students and college personnel to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Evaluates student progress in attaining goals and objectives. Completes all reports, records and invoices in a timely manner and maintains accurate inventory of all assigned properties. Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Bibb County School District Follows rules and regulations described by the Bibb County Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution. Position involves teaching traditional day.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the Virtual Platform in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills
  • Uses a variety of programs and software applications, as appropriate, to complete instructional and administrative tasks
  • Participate in professional learning to enhance ability to provide engaging online instruction a. Participate in required Professional Learning that leads to virtual teaching endorsement
  • Clearly articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents to ensure that students complete coursework in a timely manner
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Teacher Duties and Responsibilities a. Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, students' records, parents, and colleagues
  • Interacts in a professional manner with students and parents
  • Is available to students and parents for conferences according to district policies
  • Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
  • Maintains confidentiality of students and students' records
  • Works cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents b. Complies with school, district, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies
  • Conducts assigned classes at the times scheduled
  • Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline
  • Is punctual
  • Provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teacher
  • Maintains accurate, complete and appropriate records and files reports promptly
  • Attends and participates in faculty meeting and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy
  • Complies with conditions as stated in the Contract of Employment c. Demonstrates professional practices in teaching
  • Models correct use of language, oral and written
  • Demonstrates accurate and up-to-date knowledge of content
  • Implements designated curriculum
  • Maintains lesson plans as required by school policy
  • Assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students d. Acts in a professional manner and assumes responsibility for the total school program, its safety and good order
  • Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Assumes responsibility for supervising students in out-of-class settings
  • Other Duties a.
Performs other duties as required based on the specific content area taught (such as content-area competitions, after- hours activities, and so on). b. Plans and coordinates purposeful assignments for paraprofessional(s), other supporting staff, and volunteer(s), and provides input to the administrative staff on the performance of these individuals. c. Performs other duties as required by the District, the school, or student need.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Earned associate degree in Industrial Systems Technology or closely related field from an educational institution that is accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United Stated Department of Education
  • and• One year minimum full-time documented work experience in the discipline to be taught.
Applicants who do not meet the standard academic qualification may be considered under the following criteria: Earned post-secondary credentials in Industrial Systems Technology or closely related field with demonstrated competence
  • in the discipline to be taught.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, provide transcripts of conferred degrees and demonstrate in the employment history possession of one or more of the following: Bachelor of Science in Industrial Systems Technology or a closely related field that is from an educational institution that is accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education Documented work experience with industrial robotics Documented experience with machine vision systems and PLC programming Documented teaching experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of student growth and development
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents related to safety, technology, and educational procedures
  • Ability to prepare and communicate effectively through written reports, lesson plans, and correspondence
  • Skill in computing and interpreting data, including rate, ratio, and percent calculations
  • Proficiency in PC operations and software applications, including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets
  • Capability to serve as a liaison with various professionals and effectively collaborate with parents and guardians
  • Capacity to adapt instructional strategies and provide accommodations to meet individual student needs
  • Strong physical capability to manage classroom and student needs, including potential crisis intervention situations
CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to obtain clearance certificate from GaPSC.
Salary/Terms/Benefits:
190 day work year. Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplement(s). Excellent benefits package (including health, dental, vision, and life insurance; employee assistance program); personal and sick leave; membership in Teachers' Retirement System.
