Job Description
Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in students' lives by supporting their educational journey as a dedicated Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. In this contract role, you'll collaborate with school staff to provide specialized instruction and advocate for the needs of students with hearing differences in diverse classroom environments.
Qualifications:
Valid state teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education or eligibility for certification Experience or training in instructional strategies and technology for students with hearing differences Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs), IDEA compliance, and relevant assessments Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school teams Proficiency or comfort using sign language is highly preferredKey Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and support tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, individually or in small groups Modify classroom materials and use assistive technology to ensure accessibility Support general education teachers in adapting curriculum and fostering an inclusive learning environment Participate in developing, implementing, and reviewing IEPs, providing data-driven recommendations Advocate for student needs, monitor progress, and communicate regularly with families and colleagues Foster an environment promoting language development, confidence, and self-advocacy This contract opportunity allows you to impact young learners while working alongside passionate educators in a dynamic academic setting.
