POSITION SUMMARY
Provides Pre-K special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned. This position reports to the Principal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in IEP conferences including behavior management plans, functional analysis of behavior, placement, and annual reviews. Develops strategies for maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning and utilizes effective teaching methods and employs a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to the maturity, interests, and needs of the students. Provides appropriate diagnostic testing, identifies student capabilities and monitors student progress on a regular basis. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, CCPS, and GaDOE policies. Conducts parent/ teacher conferences to review students' progress, performance and behavior concerns; participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and required teacher professional learning that will occur during the summer, after school hours, and some Saturdays during the school year. Consults with appropriate professional staff regarding a student's educational program. All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree or higher in educational related field required. Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred. Makes recommendations or decisions which usually affect the school. Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) professional certification at T-4 level or higher required. Field(s)/Endorsement(s): Special Education General Curriculum (P-12) Varied; supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; independent judgment is required. Requires regular, frequent contact and communication with internal personnel of influence (i.e., school administrative personnel). Requires regular, frequent contact and communication with external personnel of influence (i.e., different constituencies: external agencies, parents, community, etc.). Excellent classroom management required. May be designated as a lead teacher or trainer. Applies, recommends and implements technology to improve the effectiveness of school operations. Constant (Daily)•to exercise the duty of care and protection of the health, safety, security, welfare, well-being, and best interests of the district's various stakeholders. Normal classroom/school setting. Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one-half (7½) hours per day. Light duty•On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying; twenty (20) lbs. or less. Periodic heavy lifting up to one-hundred (100) lbs. The 2026-2027 salary scales are not yet available.
