Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with diverse learning needs? Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher in an elementary self-contained adapted curriculum classroom designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and significant cognitive disabilities. This full-time contract position is based near Suwanee, GA and will serve as a vital resource for students requiring intensive individualized support in a nurturing, structured environment. You'll be at the heart of a collaborative educational team dedicated to fostering independent growth, communication, and functional skills. Bring your expertise in adapted curricula and behavior intervention while working closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to unlock each child's potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction tailored to adapted curriculum standards for elementary students Create, implement, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Manage classroom routines and comprehensive behavioral support systems Collect, analyze, and utilize student data to track and promote progress Differentiate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs Guide students in social, behavioral, communication, and functional skill development Collaborate with colleagues and families to support consistent student growth
Required Qualifications:
Valid Georgia Special Education Certification In-depth experience with students on the Autism Spectrum Demonstrated skill in developing and implementing IEPs Strong classroom management and behavior intervention abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
Adapted Curriculum certification or equivalent experience Background working with individuals with significant cognitive disabilities Familiarity with ABA, structured teaching methods, visual supports, and functional communication systems Experience supervising paraprofessionals in a self-contained environment Please note: Three reference checks (including a recent supervisor) will be required prior to interview scheduling.
