Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract In this rewarding contract opportunity, you'll serve as a Special Education Teacher specializing in Adapted Curriculum within a self-contained autism classroom at the elementary level. The position focuses on supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and significant cognitive differences, providing a structured and nurturing environment for meaningful growth. You will play a pivotal role in fostering academic progress, independence, and functional skills for students requiring intensive, individualized supports. Your expertise will be instrumental in delivering high-quality, differentiated instruction based on individual needs, while ensuring a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
Deliver instruction utilizing adapted curriculum, targeting individualized student goals. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with stakeholders. Employ evidence-based practices for effective classroom management and behavioral support. Partner with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to promote consistency and student success. Use data-driven strategies to assess progress, adjust interventions, and celebrate achievements. Empower students to improve communication, social, and adaptive skills in daily routines.
Required Qualifications:
Valid Georgia Special Education Teacher Certification. Demonstrated experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Strong skills in IEP development and implementation. Proficient in classroom management and behavior intervention. Ability to conduct and utilize student progress data.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in adapted curriculum instruction or certification. Skilled in teaching students with significant cognitive disabilities. Familiarity with ABA, structured teaching, visual supports, and alternative communication methods. Experience supervising paraprofessionals.
