SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
We are looking for committed middle school and high school Arts (drawing, painting, mixed media, etc) teachers of various content areas to complement our qualified workforce of educators for SY26-27. You will be responsible for preparing and implementing a full educational teaching plan according to the school's requirements. It will be fundamental to provide knowledge and instruction to students while also helping to develop their personalities and skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job with an ability to reach out to students and create a relationship of mutual trust. They will know how to organize a class and make learning an easy and meaningful process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Classroom Management Creating a safe, respectful, nurturing and inclusive Arts classroom environment Establishing a learning environment of high trust and respect as well as managing rules of behavior Maintain accurate school records: attendance, grades, progress checks Maintain a tidy classroom with art materials and supplies Planning & Assessment Ability to develop lesson plans and successfully instruct students through standards-aligned lessons, units and projects to achieve learning objectives Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units and projects Encouraging students to explore learning opportunities and college/career paths Creating, assigning and grading various assessments for students, including tests, quizzes, essays and projects Assess, monitor, and record students' progress and provide grades and feedback in a timely manner Administering tests/assessments to evaluate students' progress and performance Instructional Practice & Pedagogy Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students Working with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention Experience in drawing, painting, and mixed media as well as safety Integrating technology into the learning environment Communication & Collaboration Maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, coworkers and supervisors Communicating regularly with parents/guardians Effectively communicate with others and clearly express complex ideas Collaborate with faculty and staff
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree related to area of teaching, Visual Arts Experience with teaching in a classroom setting (preferably middle or high school) in this area Wide knowledge and experience in a variety of digital photography and visual arts media (paint, drawing, etc) Knowledge of educational pedagogies and best instructional practices. Strong organizational, time management and communication skills. Organized and detail-oriented Comfortable with technology (Mac environment) OTHER Must submit to fingerprinting and background check Supervision, as assigned. Active participation in scheduled meetings, professional development, and training. Other duties as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE
School hours are M-F 7:30am-3:30pm. A few weekend and evening hours for special school events such as Open House, Back to School Night, and Annual Lūʻau.
