Kapaa Elementary: Grade 3 Teacher, 610506 (2026-01010)

Third grade General Education Teacher will implement Common Core standards, and integrate Hawaiian culture and values into daily lesson plans. Key duties include lesson planning, differentiating instruction, classroom management, facilitating small group instruction and engaging with families. Teachers must also participate in professional development, collaborate with colleagues, and use data to measure student success.

Curriculum & Instruction:

Teachers must develop and implement standards-based lesson plans, specifically focusing on language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Cultural Competence:

A strong ability to incorporate Hawaiian history, language, and cultural values into the curriculum.

Classroom Management:

Maintaining a safe, organized, and positive learning environment is essential.

Student Assessment:

Teachers must assess behavioral issues, track academic progress, and use data-driven instruction to meet student needs.

Collaboration & Communication:

Regular communication with parents, administrators, and colleagues is required.

With the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions, the minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree. If you are hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. You must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department. Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).
