Special Education Teacher Reports to: Building PrincipalsRationale:
AHSTW CSD's Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with state and federal regulations. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure students achieve academic, social, and behavioral success in the least restrictive environment.Performance Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and life skills Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and ensure inclusion Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in accordance with IDEA and Iowa Department of Education guidelines Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development Utilize evidence-based instructional practices and behavioral interventions Support students with behavioral challenges using positive behavior intervention strategies Develop and maintain classroom procedures to ensure a safe and welcoming environment Provide and establish routines for classroom or one-on-one associates to ensure the needs of our students are met to promote growth. Align student needs to the strengths of classroom associates when developing daily schedules. Establish procedures for Medicaid reimbursement when applicable.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education with Special Education Endorsement Valid Iowa teaching license [Strat 1, Strat 2.] Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills Completion of Mandatory Reporter CertificationPosition Type:
