Job Description

White Pine Charter School Full-Time Special Education Teacher (6-12) White Pine Charter School is seeking a highly organized, collaborative, and student-centered Special Education Teacher. This position plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality special education services, legal compliance, and meaningful collaboration with families and staff. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in IDEA requirements, skilled in specially designed instruction, and committed to inclusive educational practices. Position Overview The Special Education Teacher is responsible for: Providing specially designed instruction (SDI) aligned to student IEP goals Leading the development and implementation of IEPs Ensuring compliance with federal and Idaho special education regulations Coordinating services across general education and related service providers Managing evaluation timelines and eligibility processes This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to compliance timelines, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities Case Management Serve as the case manager for assigned students receiving special education services Develop, schedule, and facilitate IEP meetings (annual reviews, amendments, reevaluations) Ensure compliance with IDEA timelines and Idaho State Department of Education regulations Draft comprehensive, legally compliant IEPs aligned to student data and present levels Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals Provide timely progress reports to families Maintain accurate, confidential special education records Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding services, progress, and concerns Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) Provide direct academic services aligned with IEP goals Design and implement evidence-based instructional strategies Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs Collect and analyze progress monitoring data to inform instruction Prepare students for school, state, and federal assessments Evaluation & Eligibility Complete evaluations for students referred through RTI, PBIS, Child Find, or parent/teacher referral Participate in multidisciplinary evaluation teams Administer or coordinate assessments as appropriate Ensure evaluations are comprehensive, timely, and legally compliant Facilitate eligibility determination meetings Collaboration & Coordination Coordinate related services with care providers, including speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school psychologists, and other specialists Work closely with general education teachers to implement accommodations and modifications Support inclusive practices within general education classrooms Attend faculty meetings, PLCs, and professional development Professional Responsibilities Maintain a positive and structured learning environment Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Idaho Teaching Profession Meet deadlines and compliance requirements Engage in ongoing professional growth Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate with Exceptional Child Generalist (K-12) endorsement, or ability to obtain Strong understanding of IDEA and special education compliance requirements Experience writing and implementing IEPs Knowledge of Idaho Core Standards Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills Ability to work effectively under compliance timelines Application Requirements Interested applicants must submit: Resume Letter of Introduction One Personal and Two Professional Letters of Reference Copy of Idaho Teaching Certificate Official Transcripts Completed School Application Employment Requirements All employees must complete a criminal history check and fingerprinting in accordance with Idaho Code Section 33-1208.
