Aug 19, 2026 Job Description Position Overview Orofino Junior Senior High School is seeking a student-centered Secondary Teacher to support a combination of English Language Arts, Career & College Readiness, Speech, and Advisory programming across grades 7-12. This position may include teaching English courses, Senior Readiness, 8th Grade Careers, 7th Grade Advisory, Speech, and other courses aligned to the candidate's endorsement and building needs. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, flexible, and committed to helping students develop strong communication, academic, organizational, and career readiness skills necessary for success beyond high school. Responsibilities English Language Arts
  • Deliver standards-aligned English Language Arts instruction
  • Support student growth in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking
  • Teach literature, composition, and communication skills through engaging and relevant coursework
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners Senior Readiness (Grade 12)
  • Guide students through completion of Senior Project, including research, development, and presentation
  • Teach digital literacy and personal finance concepts
  • Support students in creating resumes, portfolios, and other career-ready materials 8th Grade Careers
  • Deliver instruction focused on career exploration and planning
  • Support students in identifying interests, strengths, and potential career pathways
  • Introduce high school course planning connected to post-secondary goals 7th Grade Advisory
  • Deliver structured lessons focused on study skills, organization, time management, and self management
  • Support student goal setting and positive school engagement Speech
  • Teach communication skills including public speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication
  • Support students in developing confidence in speaking and listening
  • Provide opportunities for formal and informal presentations Assignment Structure
  • The selected candidate may teach a combination of the above courses based on student needs, scheduling, endorsement area, and building needs
  • Additional teaching assignments may be included based on the candidate's qualifications and endorsements Expectations
  • Deliver engaging, relevant instruction with real-world application
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment
  • Collaborate with staff and communicate with families as needed
  • Support and reinforce school-wide expectations Qualifications
  • Idaho teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to support student growth both academically and personally
  • Work well with students, staff, and the public
  • Maintain confidentiality of staff and students
  • Demonstrate consistent, daily attendance and punctuality. We believe that student achievement is directly tied to the consistency of instruction and the stability of the classroom environment
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening. Preferred Experience
  • Experience with English Language Arts instruction, speech/communication coursework, advisory programs, or career readiness instruction
  • Background in project-based learning, technology integration, or life skills coursework Salary Contingent based on education and experience. 2025-2026 Certified Salary Schedule range: $50,252

schoolinsites.com/salaryschedules Benefits Employee medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage paid 100% by the district. Family benefits paid at 80% coverage. $20,000 employee life insurance and $2,000 dependent life insurance paid by the district. Eligible for PERSI retirement.
Schedule:
Four-day school week with periodic Friday work days
  • 174 contract days per school year
