CTE Construction Trades TeacherJOB SUMMARY
The Construction Trades Teacher will develop and deliver a comprehensive Career and Technical Education (CTE) program focused on construction trades, including residential construction, carpentry, framing, safety practices, and related industry skills. The teacher will provide hands-on, project-based instruction that prepares students for postsecondary education, apprenticeships, and careers in the construction industry while emphasizing workplace readiness, safety, and employability skills.QUALIFICATIONS
Idaho teaching certificate with appropriate CTE endorsement (or ability to obtain) Industry experience in construction trades (e.g., carpentry, framing, building, or related field) Knowledge of construction practices, tools, equipment, and safety standards (OSHA preferred) Experience with project-based and hands-on instruction Ability to integrate academic skills (math, reading, problem-solving) into technical instruction Strong classroom and shop management skills Ability to maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and community partners Ability to maintain confidentiality of staff and studentsPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY TO
Building PrincipalMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction Prepare for assigned classes and lab/shop instruction Design and deliver lessons that follow logical, sequential progression of construction skills Teach foundational and advanced construction skills, including: Tool identification and use Measurement and layout Framing and building techniques Materials selection Job site safety Implement project-based learning aligned with industry standards Incorporate workplace readiness skills (teamwork, work ethic, problem-solving, communication) Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and skill levels Use data and student performance to guide instruction and improve outcomes Integrate Idaho Core Standards and CTE standards into instruction Provide opportunities for students to earn industry-recognized certifications (e.g., OSHA-10, NCCER) Program Responsibilities Develop and maintain a high-quality Construction Trades program Supervise students in shop/lab environments, ensuring strict adherence to safety procedures Maintain tools, equipment, and shop facilities Manage inventory and materials Coordinate and oversee student construction projects Build partnerships with local contractors, businesses, and industry professionals Promote program growth through recruitment and student engagement Support student participation in CTSOs (e.g., SkillsUSA) and related competitions Coordinate work-based learning opportunities, job shadows, or internships when possible Other Duties to Students Encourage students to achieve their highest academic and career potential Establish and communicate clear expectations for safety, behavior, and performance Provide supervision during all instructional and shop activities Maintain open communication with students and families Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment Professional Contacts and Activities Attend and participate in staff and department meetings Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and school goals Maintain communication with administration regarding program needs and updates Participate in professional development related to CTE and construction trades Engage with community and industry partners Other Uphold and enforce school and district policies Maintain accurate records and timely data entry Demonstrate ongoing professional growth Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Idaho Teaching Profession Represent the district in a positive and professional manner Follow district procedures and chain of command Perform other duties as assignedEVALUATION

Salary based on experience and qualifications. Position qualifies for benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance; PERSI retirement; and access to optional ancillary insurance and retirement products.
