Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Desired Qualifications:
Certified as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience with braille instruction and adaptive technology for low-vision and blind students Familiarity with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Strong communication abilities for collaborating with staff, families, and service providers Flexibility, resourcefulness, and enthusiasm for supporting diverse classroom environmentsKey Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored instructional services to students with visual impairments, both one-on-one and in group settings Assess student needs, develop and implement effective lesson plans, and adapt curriculum materials accordingly Teach and reinforce use of assistive devices, low-vision tools, orientation and mobility skills, and braille as appropriate Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to student progress monitoring, and complete necessary documentation Offer consultative support and training to classroom teachers and staff Encourage student independence, self-advocacy, and academic growth This role provides an excellent chance to make a significant impact, while engaging with committed educators and inspired students near Algonquin, IL.
