Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Bring your expertise in special education to a dedicated middle school intensive communications classroom supporting students with autism and intellectual disabilities. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 14 through November 1. You'll teach a group of nine students following a dynamic, functional life skills curriculum—complete with hands-on daily skills, regular field trips, and a classroom environment designed to foster independence. You'll lead the classroom in partnership with two experienced paraprofessionals. The class utilizes Unique Learning System as a key curriculum component and emphasizes real-world skills—from cooking in a mini-kitchen to practicing laundry routines. Experience supporting students with autism or in functional skills programs is highly valued and will help you thrive in this setting.
Key qualifications:
Current LBS1 and PEL (Professional Educator License) are required. Please attach verification (a screenshot added as a blank page to your resume). Extensive understanding of autism and intellectual disabilities, with preference for candidates who have worked in intensive or functional programs. Experience developing and implementing IEPs, as well as collaborating with families and support staff.
