Job Description

Organization Overview:
The mission of the Chicagoland Lutheran Educational Foundation (CLEF) is to empower urban Lutheran schools to deliver innovative, quality education in a Christian environment. We serve a network of 20 Lutheran schools across Chicagoland. CLEF is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring our students, teachers, leaders and schools have the tools they need to grow, thrive and succeed.
Position Overview:
In alignment with CLEF's mission and vision, an itinerant special education teacher will perform duties as an independent contractor with students eligible for special education support. The position includes working with students attending preschool through 8th grade at Lutheran schools in Chicago. The instruction provided varies based on the individual needs of the child. The most common model is pull-out 1-to-1 tutoring sessions for 120 minutes per week. In some cases, push-in services are provided to better achieve a student's goals. The caseload could range between 5 - 17 students across 1 or 2 schools, depending on the workload desired.
Primary responsibilities:
Develop lessons and provide direction instruction to students Consult with parents and teachers to support students Monitor student progress and track data Write progress reports twice a year Work with school personnel to schedule the sessions Attend service plan and evaluation meetings for students Provide documentation as requested Be able to provide instruction through a virtual format, if necessary
Position Qualifications/Skills:
Illinois PEL with an LBS1 endorsement Pass standard background check Be able to drive between schools Training in Multisensory Structured Language (MSL) desired Be an advocate for students as you collaborate with the general education teacher Emotional and Cultural Intelligence Be able to use technology to support student's learning
Salary Range and Benefits:
