Director of Education and Associate Director of Museum Education POSITION SUMMARY
The Lilly Endowment Dia De Muertos Teacher & Student Programs Coordinator is responsible for leading the development and management of our curriculum portfolio related to Día de Muertos - developing, implementing, and evaluating Museum educational programming for teachers, students, and families. SCOPE:
The position is a 3 year contractual commitment beginning in July 2026 and ending December 31, 2028. The Coordinator will efficiently develop, implement, and present exhibition-related arts curricular units. The Lilly Endowment Dia De Muertos Teacher & Student Programs Coordinator will create two (2) to three (3) bilingualSpanish/English lesson plans for six (6) diverse audiences: PreK-Kinder, 1st to 3rd, 4th to 6th, 7th to 8th, High School, and adult learners. Lesson plans will be available digitally and will include additional supplementary resources. All resources will be developed with the assistance of a Teaching Artist and with the support of Advisory Groups. RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and implement standards-based, bilingual curriculumfor diverse audiences related to Día de Muertos Create bilingual curriculum material, including but not limited to worksheets, videos, audios, and digital forms Identify needed supplies and resources Administer program evaluation tools to assess the curriculum execution in the real world Develop and manage the Family Advisory Group, the Educator Advisory Group, and the Disability Community Advisory Group to efficiently create and implement arts-integrated curricular resources and workshops Implement teacher professional development sessions and community programming with developed educational curricular resources Present tours about Mexican art and culture to groups of all ages Promote and evaluate all programs and resources Assist with other Museum Educational programming and team members Develop and foster relationships with other museum departments, outside museums, organizations, educators, and community partners to enhance curricular materials, promote resources, and build partnerships for programming Participate in professional development and program-related training activities provided by The National Museum of Mexican Art Related duties as assigned by Director of Education and Associate Director of Museum Education QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of pedagogy, learning theories, and instructional design. Familiarity with educational technology and accessibility standards. Bachelor's Degree in Art Education, Art History, Arts Administration and/or Museum Studies preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required in both English and Spanish. Minimum 5 years of experience in arts education at an institution, community center, or youth-serving organization. Previous experience in a leadership position is preferred. Knowledge and interest in all aspects of the Mexican and Mexican-American art experience, contemporary art practices, and art education practices. Ability to work well with others. Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple and varied project timelines. Capacity to adapt to rapidly changing priorities. In-person hours, including evenings and weekends, are required. ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to plan, prioritize, organize, and execute multiple initiatives simultaneously and independently. This is an on-site position that requires regular physical presence at the museum. Employee must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time; carry, lift, push or pull up to 35 pounds. Requires the ability to manually operate business machinery. Travel within the U.S. and to Mexico with advance notice may be required. There is minimal environmental exposure. FLSA Status:
