Step into a rewarding contract position as a Special Education Teacher, supporting first and second grade students in a cross-categorical classroom. This role is designed for an educator who thrives on collaboration, creativity, and individualized instruction. You'll work side-by-side with program aides and specialized support staff to foster an inclusive and enriching environment, with a focus on students identified with autism as well as those with varied academic, behavioral, communicative, and functional needs. Instruction balances grade-level standards with individualized IEP objectives and specialized supports.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
Valid teaching license with Special Education endorsement. Experience or strong interest in cross-categorical/inclusion settings. Background working with students with autism or significant disabilities preferred. Knowledge of structured teaching methods, visual supports, and diverse intervention strategies. Ability to manage and implement individualized behavioral and social-emotional interventions. Effective communicator, ready to collaborate with related service providers. Commitment to fostering an environment where every child's needs are understood and supported.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction informed by grade-level standards and IEP goals. Utilize structured teaching and visual supports in daily routines. Implement behavioral, social-emotional, communication, and sensory-based interventions and supports. Collaborate with aides, paraprofessionals, therapists, and administrative staff. Maintain accurate documentation for student progress, data collection, and compliance with educational requirements.
