Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting 5th-grade students through cross-categorical instructional programming. This rewarding contract position, situated near Cicero, IL, provides you with the opportunity to guide and support children with a broad range of academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, and functional needs. You'll deliver instruction aligned to grade-level standards while customizing support to meet each child's individual IEP goals.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in a cross-categorical or inclusive environment Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs), progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction Knowledge of structured teaching strategies, visual supports, sensory supports, and behavioral/social-emotional interventions Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Compassion, flexibility, and dedication to supporting students' growth
Primary Responsibilities:
Plan and implement instruction tailored to individual IEP goals and state standards Incorporate visual aids, adaptable materials, and structured routines to foster success Integrate behavioral, social-emotional, and communication supports throughout the school day Collaborate closely with aides, related service providers, and support staff to deliver coordinated services Maintain thorough, compliant documentation of student goals, progress, and instructional adaptations Promote a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom culture
