Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher for a 3rd-grade classroom at the elementary level. This rewarding contract opportunity offers a dynamic environment where your expertise in cross-categorical instruction will help students with diverse academic, behavioral, communication, adaptive, and functional needs thrive. You'll deliver instruction tailored both to grade-level standards and individual IEP goals through specialized programming and innovative support strategies.
Qualifications & Experience:
Current Special Education Teaching certification (appropriate for elementary level) Experience working with a range of disabilities and student needs Strong understanding of cross-categorical programming Ability to create engaging lesson plans aligned to IEP and grade-level standards Familiarity with structured teaching, visual supports, and sensory strategies Solid collaboration skills for working with aides, related service providers, and families Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement individualized instructional plans addressing both grade-level content and unique IEP goals Utilize a variety of structured teaching methods, visual aids, sensory supports, and behavioral/social-emotional interventions Collaborate closely with related service providers and classroom aides to maximize student success Monitor, document, and report student progress regularly Support students with adaptive and functional needs during all parts of the school day Communicate proactively with families and team members This is a fulfilling position where you'll see your work make a daily impact, supported by dedicated aides and 1:1 staff as needed for your students.
