Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract A full-time Teacher for the Visually Impaired position is available for the 2026-2027 school year in Danville, IL. This on-site role involves working directly with students across the district, supporting their unique educational needs. The position is itinerant, requiring travel between various schools within the district to provide specialized instruction and services.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide targeted instruction and support to visually impaired students throughout the district. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs. Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers to enhance student learning and accessibility. Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly. Utilize specialized tools and techniques to assist students in developing academic and functional skills. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student performance and services delivered. Participate in professional development and team meetings to stay current with best practices in visual impairment education.
Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification for Visual Impairment. Experience working with students who are visually impaired or blind. Strong understanding of assistive technology and instructional strategies for visually impaired students. Ability and willingness to travel between schools within the district regularly. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Commitment to supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of students with visual impairments.
