Prevention Program Manager About RICCA Founded in 1960, the Rock Island County Council on Addictions (RICCA) is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to substance use prevention, treatment, education, and recovery support services throughout the Quad Cities region and surrounding communities. RICCA's Prevention Department works collaboratively with schools, families, community organizations, and local leaders to reduce substance use risk factors, strengthen protective factors, and empower youth and communities through evidence-based prevention strategies. Position Summary The Prevention Professional is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of prevention programming and community engagement activities throughout the communities served by RICCA. This position delivers prevention education and programming within schools, community organizations, faith-based organizations, parent groups, and other community settings. The Prevention Professional serves as both an educator and community advocate while promoting healthy decision-making, youth leadership, and substance use prevention awareness. This role requires strong communication, public speaking, organization, and relationship-building skills, along with the flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to meet community needs. Key ResponsibilitiesPrevention Programming & Education Develop and implement evidence-based prevention programming and strategies. Facilitate school-based prevention curriculum and classroom presentations. Coordinate and support peer leadership and youth engagement programming. Provide prevention-related education to parents, schools, community groups, and organizations. Deliver direct prevention services during school hours, after school, evenings, and occasional weekends. Community Engagement & Development Build and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, community organizations, faith communities, and local stakeholders. Assist in identifying community prevention needs and appropriate response strategies. Support community coalitions, parent groups, and prevention-focused initiatives. Promote community awareness surrounding prevention-related issues and healthy lifestyles. Public Speaking & Outreach Conduct public speaking presentations throughout the community on prevention-related topics. Represent RICCA professionally at community events, meetings, and outreach activities. Assist with media and community awareness efforts to promote prevention initiatives and services. Documentation, Reporting & Evaluation Maintain accurate and timely prevention activity reports and program documentation. Assist with technical writing including grant applications, reports, curriculum materials, and professional correspondence. Evaluate prevention programming through both process and outcome measures. Track participation, attendance, and program effectiveness data. Professional Responsibilities Maintain professional conduct and boundaries in all community and school settings. Exercise sound professional judgment and discretion. Complete additional duties and special projects assigned by leadership. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work, Public Health, Prevention, or a related field preferred. Equivalent education, training, or relevant experience may be considered. Experience working with schools, youth, or community organizations preferred. Teaching or classroom facilitation experience preferred. Strong public speaking, communication, organizational, and writing skills required. Experience in prevention, human services, community development, or related fields preferred. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Other Requirements Frequent local travel throughout the service area is required. Evening and weekend work may occasionally be necessary based on programming needs. Professional flexibility and discretion are essential. Why Work at RICCA?
