Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Empower students who are visually impaired to thrive in an inclusive and supportive educational environment. This rewarding contract opportunity focuses on collaborating with school teams to deliver high-quality instruction and advocacy for students with visual impairments. Your dedication will help tailor learning experiences that promote independence and academic achievement.
Desired Qualifications:
Current teaching certification with an endorsement for Visual Impairments, or eligibility to obtain certification. Experience teaching or supporting students who are blind or visually impaired in K-12 settings. Strong knowledge of assistive technology and specialized instructional strategies for visual impairments. Excellent communication skills for collaboration with students, families, and staff. Flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for empowering learners with diverse needs.Primary Responsibilities:
Plan, implement, and adapt curriculum materials to meet individualized student needs, utilizing braille, large print, or accessible digital resources as appropriate. Conduct assessments to determine student eligibility, educational needs, and progress. Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to facilitate accessible and inclusive learning environments. Advocate for necessary resources, technology, and accommodations in academic and extracurricular settings. Provide direct instruction in the development of skills such as orientation and mobility, self-advocacy, and daily living. Maintain accurate documentation of student goals, progress, and service delivery as required by the educational team.
