Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher serving a high school caseload in the Chicago area. This contract position begins August 21st and offers a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm, for the new school year. Educators passionate about individualized learning will thrive in a supportive school environment dedicated to making a difference.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid LBS1 license for grades 9-12 in Illinois Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Familiarity with a variety of instructional strategies for special education Collaborative spirit for working with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized and small-group instruction to high school students with exceptional needs Develop, revise, and track progress on IEPs in accordance with state and federal guidelines Foster a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and success Coordinate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accommodations are met Monitor students' academic, behavioral, and social progress, and communicate results with families and stakeholders Participate in parent-teacher conferences and interdisciplinary meetings Maintain accurate documentation and records as required
