Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting K-8 learners as a Special Education Resource Room Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity is an in-person, full-time position (approximately 33.25 hours per week) situated near Gurnee, IL. You'll play an essential role helping students with diverse learning needs thrive within a resource room setting.
Key Qualifications:
Valid and active Professional Educator License (PEL); please have a current copy available upon application Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school environment Strong understanding of IEP processes, accommodations, and modifications Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, staff, and families Ability to cultivate a supportive, inclusive classroom climate Commitment to fostering student growth and independence
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small-group instruction for students with identified special needs Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curricula and ensure student success Write, implement, and monitor IEPs with fidelity Collect ongoing data and assess student progress, adjusting strategies as needed Communicate proactively with parents/guardians regarding student achievements and challenges Maintain accurate records and comply with district, state, and federal requirements This position offers an engaging environment where your expertise truly makes a difference from August 17, 2026, through May 27, 2027.
