Job Description
Category Schools - Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Job Type Travel Specialized teaching opportunities are available for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year, with immediate interviews being conducted and opportunities open for the current school year as well. These roles involve providing tailored educational support to students with hearing loss across various Illinois locations, including Freeport, Ogle County, and Hampshire.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction tailored to students' hearing levels and communication preferences. Facilitate the development of listening, speech, language, and overall communication skills. Adapt curricular materials using visual aids, captions, and other accessibility tools. Monitor and document student progress toward Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. Provide direct support and consultative services as specified in IEPs. Assist in the use and upkeep of hearing assistive technologies such as hearing aids and FM/DM systems.Available Positions:
Position 1: Full-time itinerant role serving K-12 students in Freeport, Illinois. Position 2: Full-time itinerant role serving K-12 students in Ogle County, Illinois. Position 3: Itinerant role based in Hampshire, Illinois.Qualifications:
Certification or licensure in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education or related fields. Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in itinerant roles. Strong communication skills and adaptability to various educational environments. Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams. These roles involve travel between school sites and are ideal for professionals seeking dynamic opportunities to make a significant impact in the lives of students with hearing loss.
