Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a meaningful impact as a teacher serving students with visual impairments in an engaging itinerant role. This full-time contract opportunity offers flexibility and variety, supporting K-12 students across multiple sites in both Kane and Will Counties. With a focus on empowering learners, you'll collaborate with school teams and deliver specialized instruction tailored to each student's needs.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Proven experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments Comprehensive knowledge of strategies, materials, and assistive technology for students who are blind or visually impaired Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and support teams Proficiency in adapting curriculum and instructional materials for accessibility Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Core Responsibilities:
Provide direct and consultative services to students at multiple school locations in Kane and Will Counties Conduct individualized assessments and develop educational plans in accordance with IEP goals Adapt curriculum and classroom materials; recommend and teach use of assistive technology Work closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports Travel between sites with mileage compensated
Position Details and Benefits:
Full-time schedule, 37.5 hours per week Flexibility in scheduling and hours to match site and student needs Wide variety of school settings and age groups, offering professional growth and experience Mileage is billable to account for travel between assignments Take the next step in your teaching career by applying now and help shape accessible and meaningful learning experiences for students with visual impairments!
