We are seeking a caring individual with a desire to help students achieve their goals to join our team.
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
AND COMPETENCIES
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience teaching special education with ED, SLD, OHI, and Autism in either a self-contained classroom or therapeutic day school. The ultimate candidate will be an experienced and tested individual who possesses a combination of the following:
Education/Licensure:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education and have an LBS1 endorsement and an Illinois State Licensure.
Background/Skills:
Minimum of three (3) years experience working with special needs population preferred but not mandatory. Experience establishing trust with students who experience severe anxiety, depression, trauma, self-injurious behavior and work or school refusal preferred.
DUTIES:
Connections Organization seeks an experienced, dynamic Special Education Teacher to work as a member of the team to carry on the tradition of excellence in special education. The Special Education Teacher is responsible for IEP development and case management, data collection, differentiation and intervention for academic and/or social-emotional needs, technology integration and ability to work with different professions, therapist, and age-groups.

Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS-1) or special education endorsement
Special Knowledge/ Skills :
Knowledge of special education policies and procedures. Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for the educational requirements for students with special needs. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate with a multi-faceted group of professionals. Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning. Writing Individualized Education Plans (IEP)
Experience :
Working with children with disabilities (high functioning autism/ Asperger's preferred) Classroom/ behavior management Creating and implementing creative lesson plans Responsibilities and duties include (but aren't limited to): Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning. Collaboratively create, perform, and assess lesson plans for a various subject areas. Modify/ adapt general education curriculum to meet individual needs. Develops, implements, and monitors progress towards IEP's. Communicates effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community members. Project a positive image to the community through the dissemination of ideas, information, and responsiveness to student, family, CAE, district, and community agency concerns. Recognize personnel policies/regulations and the importance of conferring with colleagues, district personnel, and the community in a professional manner. Strive to improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional growth and development activities by utilizing information and insights gained in professional efforts for self-improvement. Acquire and maintain certification in the school's Nonviolent Crisis Prevention & Intervention plan. Meeting expectations and responsibilities (deadlines, etc.) in a timely fashion. Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with Part 401 rules and section 226 of the Illinois administrative codes. Keeping current with technology and the uses of them as they pertain to educating students. Other duties as requested by a Senior Staff.
