Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Empower students to reach their fullest potential by utilizing your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a contract position for the 2026-2027 academic year. This opportunity offers a meaningful, school-based role near Mahomet, IL, supporting students through tailored instruction and collaborative engagement. You'll work 35 hours a week, making a direct impact over the entire school year.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Licensure or certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired Demonstrated experience supporting students who are blind or visually impaired Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive materials Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, families, and administrators Strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment Previous school-based experience is preferred
Responsibilities & Duties:
Provide direct instruction to students per their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), adapting lessons to meet their unique needs Support and coach general education staff on strategies and accommodations for visually impaired learners Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments Collaborate in IEP meetings, contribute expertise on accessible curriculum and progress monitoring Advocate for necessary adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications Engage in ongoing communication with students' families and support networks Maintain detailed records, documenting services and progress This contract position provides a rewarding opportunity to enrich students' lives and advance your professional skills in a supportive environment.
