Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Empower the next generation of learners by supporting students in a welcoming and inclusive school setting near Morton, IL. Several contract openings are available for passionate Special Education Teachers for the 2026/27 school year, each role tailored to unique age groups and learning environments.
Multiple openings include:
  • 8th Grade Self-Contained Teacher - Guide students in a focused learning environment.
  • 6th Grade Inclusion Teacher - Provide vital support within general education classrooms, with 2-3 classes exclusively for special education students.
  • 3rd-5th Self-Contained Teacher - Foster growth and academic achievement among younger learners.
All positions maintain a consistent weekday schedule from 7:45 am to 2:45 pm. Contracts will begin August 19, 2026, and conclude June 4, 2027, offering the ideal balance between professional commitment and personal time.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
  • Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility) for the state
  • Experience in self-contained classrooms or inclusion settings highly valued
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Dedication to differentiating instruction and maximizing student potential
  • Genuine enthusiasm for supporting students with diverse learning needs Key responsibilities:
  • Deliver individualized and group instruction in accordance with IEPs
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
  • Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed
  • Build positive relationships that encourage confidence and achievement
  • Foster a supportive, structured, and engaging classroom culture
