The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high-quality education and support to students with diverse learning needs at the elementary and junior high school levels. As a special education teacher, you will play a pivotal role in creating inclusive and supportive learning environments, collaborating with colleagues, and individualizing instruction to meet each student's unique needs.Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education. Valid state teaching license/certification in Special Education (LBS1). Experience working with elementary and/or junior high school students with diverse learning needs, including but not limited to learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and intellectual disabilities. Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to working with students with special needs. Ability to adapt and problem-solve in a dynamic educational environment. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.Reports to:
Building Principal/Assistant Principal and Special Education Coordinator Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs in collaboration with parents, administrators, and other professionals. Design and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to accommodate a range of learning styles, abilities, and needs. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and technologies to engage students and facilitate their academic, social, and emotional growth. Assess student progress regularly through formal and informal measures and adjust instruction accordingly to ensure continuous improvement. Provide support and accommodations to promote access to the general education curriculum for students with disabilities while fostering independence and self-advocacy skills. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported. Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and other professionals to coordinate services and ensure seamless integration of special education supports. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, colleagues, and stakeholders to provide updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and facilitate partnerships in support of student success. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in special education best practices, instructional strategies, and relevant policies and regulations.Benefits:
