Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Exciting and impactful opportunities are available for skilled Special Education Teachers who are passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs in a welcoming school environment near Pekin, IL. These contract positions will run from August 19, 2026, through June 4, 2027. Ideal candidates are dedicated educators who thrive in collaborative settings and want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.
Several classroom settings are available:
8th
Grade Self-Contained:
Lead a classroom dedicated to serving students needing personalized instruction.
Hours:
7:45 AM - 2:45 PM 6th
Grade Inclusion:
Provide support to special education students in general education settings and take ownership of two or three small group classes.
Hours:
7:45 AM - 2:45 PM 3rd-5th
Grade Self-Contained:
Create a nurturing environment for elementary students benefiting from structured support.
Prospective candidates should bring:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with special education endorsement Experience teaching students with mild to moderate disabilities in self-contained or inclusive settings Strong classroom management and differentiated instruction skills Effective communication and collaboration talents Flexibility and problem-solving abilities Commitment to fostering a supportive learning atmosphere Key responsibilities include: Designing and implementing IEPs tailored to each student's needs Collaborating with general educators, specialists, and families Monitoring student progress and adapting instruction as needed Promoting positive behavior and social-emotional growth Keeping accurate records and documentation in compliance with district and state requirements In addition to being part of a supportive staff, you'll enjoy competitive earnings of $30-40 per hour, depending on experience and placement.
