Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Junior High Special Education Teacher in a vibrant learning environment near Peoria, IL! This full-time contract position (Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours weekly) offers the opportunity to engage with junior high students as part of a dedicated support team. You'll enjoy a balanced caseload, providing both push-in and pull-out services, and play an essential role in fostering student success.
Desired Background & Experience:
Professional experience as a Special Education Teacher in a classroom or school setting Valid teaching certification/license in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain) Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate well with teachers, support staff, and families Creative and adaptable approach to addressing diverse learning needs Experience utilizing both push-in and pull-out instructional models preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and support for students with varying abilities in junior high grades Implement push-in and pull-out services, adjusting instructional strategies to individual and group needs Collaborate with general education teachers to modify lessons and classroom activities as needed Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation Participate in development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Dedicate 42 minutes daily at the end of the day for mentoring students in math and language arts This role provides the rewarding experience of building lasting relationships with students and helping them grow and thrive both academically and personally.
