Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a contract position for the 2026-2027 school year. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work 35 hours per week in a collaborative educational setting, providing specialized instructional support to visually impaired students.
Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction using adapted curriculum and accessible materials for students with visual impairments Collaborate with general and special education staff to develop and implement IEPs tailored to students' unique learning needs Assess students' visual functioning and educational progress, recommending appropriate accommodations and modifications Instruct in the use of assistive technology, braille, tactile graphics, and low vision aids Support students in developing independent living and orientation and mobility skills Engage with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a cohesive approach for student success Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of best practices for teaching the visually impaired
Desired Qualifications:
Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Prior experience working in a school setting with visually impaired students preferred Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Ability to create and deliver differentiated lessons based on student needs Familiarity with specialized instructional materials, assistive technology, and braille This contract opportunity is ideal for an educator passionate about making education accessible for all students.
