This full-time, contract Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher/Hearing Itinerant opportunity begins in the upcoming school year and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students across K-12 settings. You'll take on a caseload of diverse learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, each requiring unique support. Working as an itinerant, you will be responsible for delivering specialized instruction and services based on students' weekly service minutes, ensuring they have every opportunity to thrive in their academic environment.
Role Highlights:
Serve as the primary DHH teacher for students on your caseload, traveling between locations as needed Provide direct instruction, consultation, and support tailored to each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Collaborate with general and special education staff to foster inclusive practices and accessible learning experiences Maintain accurate records, track progress, and communicate regularly with parents and multidisciplinary teams Advocate for student needs and help implement accommodations and assistive technology as appropriate
Qualifications:
Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) from the Illinois State Board of Education with a Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement Prior experience serving K-12 students with hearing-related needs preferred Strong knowledge of auditory/oral, signed, and total communication methods Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Ability to travel between school sites This is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week, offering a supportive professional environment with benefits including insurance and 401k, and competitive pay for your experience and dedication.
