Job Summary:
The Special Education Resource Teacher is responsible for providing support and services to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role collaborates closely with general education teachers, administrators, parents, and support staff to ensure that students with diverse learning needs receive a high-quality education in the least restrictive environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Build and maintain positive relationships with students and their families, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Collaborate and communicate with IEP team members (families, general education teachers, administrators, related service providers) to develop, implement, and review IEP goals and services. Maintain student records and IEP data within District directed programs. Adapt and modify general education curriculum and materials for a variety of grade levels/content areas to meet the individual needs of students with IEPs. Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in student IEPs Utilize a variety of evidence-based instructional strategies and assistive technologies to support student learning. Analyze student performance in relation to grade level peers in order to determine a student's appropriate needs and least restrictive environment. Collaborate, communicate, and model alongside instructional assistants working with students with IEPs. Implement district, building, classroom and IEP specific behavior plans (Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan). Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education, child development, and inclusive education. Other responsibilities as assigned by building or district administration.
Minimum Requirements:
Professional Educator License with LBS-1

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel materials. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
