Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher during the 2026-2027 school year. This opportunity is a full-time contract position, where you'll foster an inclusive educational experience for students in grades 9-12 and work collaboratively within a dedicated team of professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver differentiated instruction and behavioral interventions designed for individual student needs Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to promote access to general education content for all learners Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring compliance and best practices Promote student engagement and independence in the least restrictive environment Partner with general education teachers and support staff to optimize student learning and inclusion Maintain consistent, supportive communication with families regarding student growth and progress Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district and state requirements Foster a positive, student-centered classroom environment that celebrates diversity
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree is a plus) Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement Solid understanding of
IDEA, FAPE, IEP
processes, and evidence-based behavior strategies Experience working with students across disabilities, including learning, emotional, and developmental challenges Excellent communication and collaboration skills Familiarity with assistive technology and inclusionary practices is highly regarded Step into a rewarding role where you'll help shape successful futures for students while collaborating with a passionate educational community.
