26/27 School Year Position Overview Southmont Junior High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs in grades 6-8. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes academic and social growth. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects using differentiated teaching strategies Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student success Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation Create a positive, structured classroom environment that supports behavioral and emotional needs Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities All other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field Valid Indiana teaching license Knowledge of IEP development and implementation Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills Experience working with middle school students preferred
