2 C8 Position Summary The University of Southern Indiana is seeking part-time Summer Enrichment Camp (SEC) Teachers. SECamp takes place from June through July and includes crafts, games, and enrichment experiences for children in the categories of art, science, fitness, technology and more! This position will provide a quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum for each assigned child while maintaining a warm, secure environment for the children, staff, and parents. Some positions may work up to one week after camp ends. Duties/Responsibilities Adhere to applicable regulations, standards, and USI policies and maintain a classroom environment in accordance with these expectations. Assist in preparing and implementing creative and age-appropriate activities for the children. Assist in maintaining classroom management using appropriate, positive methods. Review the campers' "special needs list" and any staff or parent notes to ensure special needs are met (allergies, medical conditions, etc.). Establish and maintain effective communication with all parents and staff through daily conversations and notes as directed by Lead Teacher Maintain knowledge of applicable University and camp policies and procedures. Must respond appropriately during times of emergency, maintaining a calm demeanor and keeping children safe from harm. Share in household duties to maintain a clean, safe environment, free from unsightly clutter. Be sensitive to children's, parents' and staff's needs and maintain a nurturing atmosphere, treating all children and adults with respect. Report to Supervisor/Lead Teacher/Teacher any issues or concerns that inhibit or prevent quality programming. Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings and in-service workshops. Required Knowledge and Skills Some college coursework. Work experience or a combination of work experience and education in a closely related field may be substituted when it has provided equivalent preparation. Possess a pleasant personality that encourages a cooperative work environment. Have a calming, nurturing influence with children and maintain good classroom control and high educational standards. Preferred Knowledge and Skills A degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or Education. Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements Camp opens daily at 7 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. This position is open to both student and non‑student applicants. USI students will be limited to 28 hours per week in accordance with USI policy. Non-student may work up to 37.5 hours per week.
