Job Description
St. Vincent de Paul School in Fort Wayne is looking for a full time special educator in our Resource Program, with specific assignments in grades K-8 to be determined. The teacher will be responsible for integrating the mission of St. Vincent's and the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend in all planning, teaching, grading, and in all school duties for the betterment of our students in our resource program in these grades, as those specific assignments are determined. Our Resource Program, called the St. John Paul II program, seeks to serve the broadest range of learners possible through inclusive support of both learners and general educators.
Job Responsibilities:
Understands, believes in, and communicates joyfully about the St. Vincent's mission and belief statements in all endeavors. Commits to highly engaged, active learning, serving all student needs. Provides grade appropriate instructional program OR modifies/accommodates existing general education program for students in grades K-8 Resource (JPII Program), with clear ability to plan for varying student needs. Maintains an attractive, organized, and engaging learning environment. Develops lesson plans with clear objectives in line with the Diocesan Curriculum. Works with colleagues in our resource and general education departments, instructional coaching, and student counseling to support overall student learning needs, and our VBIS and Olweus programs. Uses and limits technology effectively, in accord with our belief statements (see school home page). Maintains appropriate control through VBIS techniques to enhance the learning environment. Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress and development, including within the use of tech systems such as PowerSchool. Provides regular and consistent communication with parents, students, staff and administration as outlined by the St. Vincent's Parent Handbook and Faculty/Staff Handbook. Performs assigned duties when needed for the supervision of students before, during or after school including lunch duties, recess duties, dismissal duties, detention and any other duties assigned by the administration. Participates in faculty meetings, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities. Attends school events including Back to School Nights, Open Houses, Parent/Teacher conference days, and other events as requested by the administration.Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in education or appropriate field Current IDOE certification Successful experience in student teaching or classroom teaching Positive references and recommendations Clear ability to promote and witness to our Roman Catholic Faith Basic understanding and acceptance of Catholic school philosophy, goals and objectives Must be comfortable with robust use of various technology systems/applications.
