Location:
West Central Middle/High SchoolSpecial Education (Life Skills) Teacher grades 6-8Under the general supervision of the Principal, to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment.

Summary-Assists in the development of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and behavior management to make sure student needs are being met and students are receiving appropriate services-Creates a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.-Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior-Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitation of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved-Meets with classroom teachers and principals to discuss individual programs to be designed for children who will receive classroom instruction-Notifies parents of children who will receive special education services and supplemental classroom instruction and discuss the program with them-Collect and analyze data to best meet student needs-Effective communication skills with students, families and staff-Participate in professional development opportunities-Performs other reasonably-related duties as assigned by the Principal-Provide additional learning opportunities through community-based instruction
Qualifications:
Licensed in special education or a willingness to obtain special education licensure in the Jr/Sr High School setting, prefer Intense Interventions License Friend Version
