Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a skilled educator specializing in working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a school setting located in Indianapolis, IN. This contract position focuses on providing tailored instruction and support to meet the unique needs of students with hearing impairments, ensuring they achieve academic success and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction aligned with curriculum standards for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Utilize assistive technologies and communication strategies to enhance student learning. Monitor and assess student progress, modifying teaching methods as needed. Communicate regularly with families and staff to support student development. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Certification or licensure in Special Education or Deaf Education. Experience teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a school environment. Strong knowledge of communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL) or other modalities. Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, therapists, and families.
