Job Description
TEACHER•Multilingual Learner (ML) teacher
Reports to: Director of Communications and Language Programs
General Summary:
To provide instruction and support for English Learners to improve their proficiency of listening, speaking, reading, writing and comprehension in the content areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and social and instructional language.
Essential Functions:
Monitors progress of all English Learners (EL) students in the building
Instructs students at their appropriate language level
Collaborates with classroom teachers for appropriate instruction of EL students
Uses WIDA English Development Standards to drive instruction
Schedules students for appropriate EL instruction
Maintains an EL room conducive to a high level of learning
Completes Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for EL students
Plans individual conferences with each student
Organizes and helps to administer the
WIDA-ACCESS
Administers
WIDA-APT
Coordinates services for EL students as related to fall registration, parent conferences, home phone calls and visits
Coordinates scheduling and grouping of EL students for ISTEP and ECAs
Collaborates with building-based teams for RtI, Special Needs and retention referrals
Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Maintains confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Education
Indiana Teaching License
TESOL or EL licensure or certification
